Born two months premature at four pounds, Kate Noelle Holmes made her first appearance on December 18, 1978, in Toledo, Ohio. She is the daughter of Kathleen Ann (Craft) a philanthropist, and Martin Joseph Holmes, Sr., a lawyer. She is of German, Irish, and English ancestry. Her parents have said that her strong-willed personality is probably from being born premature. Being the youngest in the Holmes clan, completing the family of three other sisters and one brother, Katie was always the baby. As a teenager, she began attending modeling school. When she was sixteen, her teacher invited her to go to a modeling competition with other girls from her class. She competed in the International Modeling and Talent Association by singing, dancing, and reciting a monologue from To Kill a Mockingbird (1962. By the end of that time in New York, Katie won many awards. But she said she didn't want to model because it wasn't challenging enough. So when she was seventeen, Katie went to Los Angeles to audition for movies. Luckily, on her second audition, she was cast in the movie, The Ice Storm (1997) directed by Ang Lee. Katie's character was Libbets Casey, a rich New Yorker, who is pursued by two of the main characters. It was a small part, but it marked the beginning of her professional acting career. Suspicious, right? Naturally, Greta ignores the rules and only starts to take them seriously when the doll begins to take on a life of its own. Brahms seemingly moves on his own, and a child's voice and sobs can be heard across the mansion. Skip to the end, and Greta discovers that, lo and behold, the real Brahms has been alive and well, and he's now a grown man who's been living in the walls of the house. A tussle ensues, and Greta eventually stabs him with a screwdriver and flees the estate. But as we discover later, Brahms has survived. And he's busy repairing his shattered doll. New characters, same old creepy doll Greta might've escaped, but it seems that the Heelshire house might still be housing Brahms, and that he and his doll are still very much out to torment whoever occupies the mansion next. Brahms: The Boy II is an intriguing next step for both of the UK actors who've seen their careers continue to rise and develop over the past few years. While Welsh-native Yeoman appears to be making more of the transition from TV work to cinema, the Yorkshire-born Ineson has been taking massive strides into the mainstream of late, becoming a versatile and beloved genre staple of the small and big screen and in projects of both colossal and tiny budgets. If so, you'll be delighted to see there's a sequel coming at the end of February, and one trailer has already arrived. Now, a second trailer for Brahms: The Boy II has arrived, but this movie comes off as more of a comedy than anything else. The new trailer for Brahms: The Boy 2, which you can see below- if you dare- transcends horror to become a straight-up festival of laughs. Maybe it's the rhyming story driving the unintentionally comedic elements to the trailer. Or maybe it's that every jump-scare within the trailer is downright silly. Check it out for yourself. In 2016's The Boy, a woman moves from the US to a small town in the UK to be a nanny for a child. However, there is no child, only the doll named Brahms- which represented the child who died in the house years prior. Of course, things get spooky for the nanny as Brahms mysteriously appears and disappears throughout the film, and the audience is led to believe Brahms is a haunted doll. However- spoiler alert for The Boy- Brahms wasn't a doll haunted by a spooky ghost. The child that supposedly died is now an adult and living in the walls of the house. He was the one moving the doll around and creating the supposed supernatural elements of the film. That's a pretty rad twist for what is ultimately a middle-of-the-road horror film. The spooky doll followup seems to retcon that idea, giving Brahms supernatural powers of some sort. Sure, that could also be another swerve for the audience, but at this point, spooky dolls just ain't what they used to be. Brahms: The Boy 2 stars Katie Holmes, Christopher Convery, Owain Yeoman, and Ralph Ineson. The sequel will be once again directed by William Brent Bell. Netflix may be investing in interactive fiction after its Black Mirror: Bandersnatch experiment, but a lawsuit against the streamer by the trademark owner of "Choose Your Own Adventure" is making enough progress that it might affect how these stories are marketed in the future. According to The Hollywood Reporter, publisher Chooseco LLC filed suit last January after Bandersnatch debuted and, it claims, confused viewers into thinking it was associated with the brand of childrens books. This rests mainly on the use of a Choose Your Own Adventure book (which the protagonist claims hes based his work on) in the interactive films marketing. Now, the decision has come down that the lawsuit will move forward after Netflixs attempt to get the lawsuit dismissed has failed. Vermont U. S. District Court Judge William Sessions ruled that theres enough evidence that Netflix used the Chooseco trademark outside of legal limits to move the complaint further. Sessions agreed that Bandersnatch is an artistic work under the balancing test of Rogers v. Grimaldi (meaning that the trademark usage must be misleading) and thus warrants further analysis. "Netflix used Choosecos mark to describe the interactive narrative structure shared by the book, the videogame, and the film itself, ” the ruling reads. “In addition, the mental imagery associated with Choosecos mark adds to Bandersnatch s 1980s aesthetic. Thus, Netflixs use of Choosecos mark clears the purposely-low threshold of Rogers artistic relevance prong. That means the next step is ruling on whether or not Netflix misled viewers. Choosecos allegations that Netflix tried to license the brand, then, without getting one, releasing Bandersnatch anyways, might be key here. "The protagonist in Bandersnatch explicitly stated that the fictitious book at the center of the films plot was a Choose Your Own Adventure book, ” the decision continues. “In addition, the book, the videogame, and the film itself all employ the same type of interactivity as Choosecos products. The similarity between Choosecos products, Netflixs film, and the fictitious book Netflix described as a Choose Your Own Adventure book increases the likelihood of consumer confusion. " However, theres no ruling on that front yet — just the decision to move forward with the complaint and not dismiss it out of hand. All fans can do is await the next steps that may shape the future of the streamers interactive library. Next, the sequel to The Boy continues to move away from its originals plotline. The horror follow-up already teased as much in its first footage, but now that a new trailer has come out, it makes the Katie Holmes-starring film clearly separate from the first. Brahms: The Boy II (already a strange title for a movie) looks to rearrange the mythology of the universe so that the mysterious doll at its center isnt just a misdirect for a grown maniac living in a mansions walls, but a mystical source of murderous that can infect the son of Holmes character when they arrive at the house.
